Barcelona to be a “lighthouse to the world” during the final of the America’s Cup
Bogatell beach will provide the scenario for the ceremony ahead of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the final of the America’s Cup. The sea, the wind and sailing take centre stage in the show on 10 October, from 9 pm, with notable performers including the Castellers de Vilafranca, the Orquestra i Cor del Liceu, the Escolania de Montserrat, and the musicians Sara Blanch, Arnau Tordera and Marina Herlop.
The ceremony will highlight the power of sport, combined with art and culture, as agents of change and the capacity of commitment, and is a project forming part of the legacy of the America’s Cup, with the support of the host institutions coordinated through the Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica.
The event will fuse together technology, art and nature through visual effects that include drone constellations, LED screens, avatars and seas of lights, combined with beautiful soundtracks, musical performances and immersive symphonies, designed by the Catalan composer Albert Guinovart to take spectators on an exciting journey that will captivate audiences the world over. The ceremony will be broadcast by TV3 and La2, betevé and different international channels.
Barcelona, Lighthouse to the World will be possible thanks to the participation of Focus SA (specialising in the creation and stage production of cultural and audiovisual content), Lavinia (with broad and recognised experience in television services and creations), Igor Studio (creative studio recognised with multiple international awards) and Flock Drone Art (Catalan company specialising in drone shows).
Hansel Cereza will be the stage director, with the orchestra and choir from the Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona, the Escolania de Montserrat, the soprano Sara Blanch and the pop tenor Arnau Tordera all taking part. The electronic music artist Marina Herlop has composed a piece especially for the occasion.
