What mental health services are there in the city?

Sadness, anxiety, distress when it comes to eating or sleeping. We can all suffer emotional distress and mental health problems at some time in our lives. There are various municipal services in the city and around all districts specialising in mental health and conceived to listen to people and provide help and support. Here we outline these resources, all of them free of charge and open to everybody.

Konsulta’m

  • Who is it aimed at? Young people between the ages of 12 and 22.
  • What services does it offer? Konsulta’m is a free service offering specialised psychological support to help prevent psychological suffering and mental health problems among young people. It also offers advice on mental health matters for professionals working with young people.
  • How do I get in touch? Konsulta’m points for young people and teenagers open one afternoon a week in a community centre or a local facility with activities for young people. You can also contact the service by email.

Konsulta’m +22

  • Who is it aimed at? All people aged over 22.
  • What service does it offer? This is a free psychological service offering support for mental health problems. It also offers advice on mental health matters for professionals working in the community.
  • How do I get in touch? There are Konsulta’m +22 points in the districts of Sant Martí, Sant Andreu, Nou Barris, Horta-Guinardó, Sants-Montjuïc and Ciutat Vella. “Aquí t’escoltem”

  • Who is it aimed at? Young people aged between 12 and 20.
  • What services does it offer? This is a listening and support service. It offers individual and confidential support.
  • How can I get an appointment or make a query? You can request an appointment or send a query by email to: consulta_aquitescoltem@bcn.cat.
  • Other services from “Aquí t’escoltem”: the service periodically organises group activities, workshops and opportunities for reflection where users can talk about feelings and emotions, resolve conflicts and work on self-esteem, respect and assertiveness.

Centre for Families with Teenagers

  • Who is it aimed at? Parents and guardians of teenagers.
  • What services does it offer? It offers information, training and individual or group guidance to improve support for teenagers, review or refocus parental roles and provide tools, resources and experiences.
  • And teenagers from these families, where can they turn? “Aquí t’escoltem” points work very closely with the Centre for Families with Teenagers.

Emotional support chat

  • Who is it aimed at? Young people aged between 14 and 25.
  • How does it work? Through WhatsApp, offering a confidential emotional support chat with volunteer advisor.
  • What’s the number? 679 333 363.
  • When can I get in touch? The service is active around the clock, every day of the year.

Free suicide prevention support line

  • How does it work? This is a free phone number which is available around the clock where volunteer advisors handle calls where people express suicidal ideas or behaviour.
  • What’s the number? 900 925 555.

Support point for relatives of people at risk of suicide

  • What hours does it operate? Tuesday, from 5 pm to 7 pm

Support point for people who have lost a close friend or relative through suicide

Training on awareness, prevention, detection and support in cases of unwanted loneliness

  • How does it work? Free online course with resources for identifying and acting in cases of unwanted loneliness. Simply fill in a form to access training materials.
