Training to work in key sectors with the ‘Reskilling Sectorial’ programme
The programme will provide training for 2,500 people in 2024, helping them to work in key sectors in the city: food, life sciences and health, commerce, the blue economy, the sports economy, the green and circular economy, the visitor and restaurant economy, industry 4.0 logistics, sustainability and the environment. Short professional training courses will be offered through Barcelona Activa, ranging from 6 to 300 hours.
The training courses being offered on this programme are specific to certain areas, allowing people to get the qualification they need to work in a specific sphere, for instance, piloting drones, renewable energies, healthy housing, signature cuisine, support for people with Alzheimer’s or basic life support and more.
These courses will mainly be given in an online format or in a virtual classroom. Their goal is to support people who are out of work or seeking to improve their positions and develop their professional potential, improving their labour prospects with specialised knowledge and skills.
No experience is needed to sign up and the courses are open to everyone. The programme is constantly being updated to meet the needs of the labour market. Further information is available on the Barcelona Activa website.
A sum of 400,000 euros will be used for this measure, with the courses to be carried out with the support of various bodies, such as Port de Barcelona, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities (IMPD), Mercabarna, the Ministry of Education and others.
